What Wertschätzung is
Wertschätzung is German for appreciation, and it is Sigma Laser’s thank-you to everyone who laser-welds for a living. It takes place online, on SYN, the free member portal for the laser welding community. On Thursday, 17 December 2026, every approved member spins the prize wheel once. The wheel is open the whole day, until midnight German time. There is no fixed slot: your spin waits for whenever you sign in, during a break or after the shift.
Nothing is sold and nothing is presented. Taking part costs nothing, you need no payment details, no subscription and no travel. Legally it is a free prize draw with no stake. If you want to be in, register by 16 December 2026 on the Wertschätzung page.
Why we do this
At Sigma Laser we have been developing and building laser welding systems in Hanau since 2005. For more than twenty years we have worked with people who use our technology every day. One thing we learned along the way: behind every good seam are experience, judgement and craftsmanship. None of that is in a data sheet, and you cannot see it on the finished part.
Shervin Rahimi, Founder and CEO of Sigma Laser, put it this way in his interview about SYN and Wertschätzung (translated from the German original): “Even the most modern technology needs people who know how to use it properly. With SYN we want to shift part of the attention away from the machines and towards the people who work with them every day. Their work deserves recognition.”
That is exactly the point. It is not about a machine or a brand. It is about you.
Joining is this simple
Three steps, and two of them take less than five minutes together.
- Register for free. Create your SYN account and confirm your e-mail address. Two minutes, no payment details.
- Briefly prove your involvement. Show us that you work in laser welding. A photo of your laser welding machine is enough; a training certificate or another suitable proof works too. Nothing to hand right now? Submit it later.
- Approval and spin. A person checks your account, usually within one working day. Then you are approved and spin the prize wheel on 17 December 2026.
The proof is used only to verify your account. It is never published, never shown to other members and never used for commercial purposes.
Did you take part in “Der erste Funke” or “Der zweite Funke”? Then your SYN account still counts. Sign in, submit your proof if you have not yet been approved, and your spin is waiting for you.
Who can join
Everyone professionally involved in laser welding: in manufacturing and series production, in tool and mould making, in repair and maintenance. Welders, operators, technicians, workshop owners. From Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the EU.
And this matters: with any machine brand. It makes no difference which laser welding machine you work on or who built it. Your experience counts, not the nameplate.
What there is to win
Our grand prize is a Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ Enterprise Edition, a high-quality tablet that suits both work and everyday life. On top of that there are more prizes, from small surprises to high-quality extras. The full list appears on the Wertschätzung page as soon as it is final.
Each prize is available in limited quantities. What is on the wheel is shown beforehand, on the page and again on the wheel itself. A prize that has run out is removed from the wheel rather than left on it. Prizes you win are shipped free of charge to the address in your account, within Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the EU.
And if luck is not on your side? You are still part of the laser welding community on SYN, with support from people who laser-weld themselves, surveys that reach our engineers directly, and further campaigns after 17 December.
Why now and not in December
Every account is checked by a person. If you register today, you are approved long before the day and spend none of 17 December waiting. If you register on the last evening, your account may only be checked on the day itself. Registration closes on Wednesday, 16 December 2026, at midnight, the very moment the prize wheel opens.
